LEIDSCHENDAM  Fugro will conduct a metocean survey for the planned 100-MW Salamander floating offshore wind farm, 35 km from the coast of Peterhead, eastern Scotland.

This is a joint venture (JV) between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7.

The 12-month survey should begin next month and will involve acquiring meteorological, oceanographic and environmental data. Results will support the project's design, operations and maintenance strategy as well as the planning application process.

Fugro will deploy two floating Seawatch wind lidar buoys and a Wavescan buoy to measure wave height, wind and current speed and other regional characteristics to assess seasonal conditions.

It is one of various surveys planned by the JV before embarking on the environmental impact assessment and the habitat regulations assessment. The goal is to submit the required consent applications by early 2024.
