STAVANGER, Norway  Vårgrønn, the joint venture of Eni Plenitude and HitecVision, is teaming up with European Energy to pursue offshore wind opportunities in the Baltic Sea offshore Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.

They estimate a potential for 15.4 GW capacity, with Lithuania’s government launching two tenders for development areas this spring and fall and Estonia issuing tenders for a potential 7 GW late this year.

The new partnership will co-operate across the entire offshore wind life cycle in the region, from development and financing through construction and operation.

Copenhagen-based European Energy already has a presence in all three countries and has developed and constructed several wind parks onshore in Lithuania. It is also working on four offshore wind projects in Denmark and Italy.

Vårgrønn has a 20% stake in the Dogger Bank wind development in the UK southern North Sea and has exclusivity to develop up to 1.9 GW of floating offshore wind in Scotland with partner Flotation Energy.

It is targeting involvement in 5 GW of offshore wind projects either in operation or sanctioned by 2030 across northern Europe.
