DUBLIN/COPENHAGEN – Ireland’s EirGrid has provisionally approved the Codling Wind Park under the country’s first offshore wind energy auction.

The proposed development, with a capacity of up to 1.3 GW, will be located 13-22 km from the County Wicklow coast, between Greystones and Wicklow Town, in the Irish Sea. It is a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables and Fred. Olsen Seawind.

Also successful in the Irish government’s ORESS-1 process was a partnership between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Statkraf, which secured a 500-MW contract to support development and delivery of the North Irish Sea Array (NISA) offshore wind project.

This also will be built off  Ireland’s east coast.

As the exclusive offshore wind development partner to CIP, Copenhagen Offshore Partners will co-lead project development activities.
