Semco supporting crane upgrades on Cadeler offshore wind vessels

ESBJERG, Denmark — Cadeler has commissioned Semco Maritime to perform modifications related to an upgrade of main crane capacity on two O-class wind farm installation vessels.

Previously Semco Maritime fitted new and extended crane booms on both vessels.

Its latest work scope covers planning and supplier coordination, fabrication and installation of a new boom rest, reinforcement of the crane pedestal, and various electrical and mechanical upgrades during installation of the new cranes supplied by GustoMSC.

Fabrication of about 300 t of steel structures will start shortly, with installations to follow on both vessels in Rotterdam over a five-month period starting in late 2023.
