CORK, Ireland  Eni subsidiary Plenitude has signed an agreement with Simply Blue Group to co-develop new floating offshore wind projects in Italy.

The collaboration will combine Plenitude’s technical and financial capabilities and experience in the Italian energy sector with Simply Blue Group’s experience in developing floating wind projects.

Plans have already gone forward to the relevant authorities for the first two projects, Messapia offshore Apulia and Krimisa off Calabria.

Messapia, 30 km from the Otranto coast, will have a total capacity of 1.3 GW and will generate about 3.8 TWh annually.

Krimisa, 45 km off the coast of Crotone, will have a capacity of 1.1 GW and annual energy production of up to 3.5 TWh.

The partners said they will work with local communities and others to develop technology innovations and support the Italian floating offshore wind supply chain.
