PAPENDRECHT, the NetherlandsBoskalis said its recently commissioned Bokalift 2 crane vessel is undergoing a further modification, with two tools to be added for offshore wind projects.

The offshore Southfork and Revolution wind farms in US waters will next year undergo installation of 2,300-t monopiles up to 114 m long and 10 m in diameter.

An upending hinge will be installed on the vessel in Singapore to upright the monopiles into a vertical position. Bokalift 2 will then sail for Rotterdam to take delivery of a motion-compensated pile gripper frame early in 2023.

The company recently acquired its fourth offshore construction support vessel, BOKA Northern Ocean, following BOKA Tiamat, BOKA Atlantic and BOKA Southern Ocean.

The company describes this as a high-end vessel, with a large deck space and 400-t crane, capable of performing installations for subsea services and connecting subsea cables to floating wind farms.

Its A&R (abandonment and recovery) system with winches allows it to lower objects weighing up to 350 t to water depths of up to 3,000 m.

Bokalift 2 recently completed its 2022 installation campaign for wind farm projects offshore Taiwan, the largest being the Changfang and Xidao development. Remaining jackets and pinpiles will be installed in 2023.

Offshore northern France, Boskalis and its consortium partners recently completed installing 71 gravity base structures that serve as the turbine foundations for the Fécamp offshore wind development.

The company was also responsible for the scour protection and ballasting of the concrete foundations.
