PORT TALBOT, U.K.  RWE and Tata Steel have agreed to investigate the production of steel components in Wales for use in floating wind foundations and structures for projects in the Celtic Sea.

They will identify the steel components that Tata Steel could supply from its steelworks in Port Talbot.

RWE proposes various gigawatt-scale floating wind projects in the Celtic Sea off southwest Britain as part of The Crown Estate’s forthcoming leasing round.

If successful, these would form part of the company’s decarbonization hub, the Pembroke Net Zero Centre in west Wales.

Under the cooperation agreement, the two parties could provide technical assistance and expertise to The Crown Estate for the Celtic Sea leasing process.
