LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands — Fugro is performing a third year of site characterization services offshore the northeastern U.S. for New Jersey-based wind farm developer Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind.

Geophysical, metocean and environmental work scopes of work are in progress, with geotechnical services due to start shortly from a newly commissioned Fugro C30 mobile rig, deployed from a third-party vessel.

The C30 provides heave-compensated drilling capabilities, downhole sampling, coring and in-situ testing data. The vessel is equipped with an automated launch and recovery system for the Fugro SEACALF DeepDrive system, performing seabed cone penetration tests.

The soil findings will support the foundation and cable design, ahead of the targeted 2024 construction date.

Atlantic Shores personnel receive all geo-data in near real-time via Fugro’s Gaia.Hub web-based platform.
