German logistics group acquires wind farm jackup vessel

BREMEN, Germany Harren & Partner has acquired the 2010-built DP jackup crane vessel Thor.

The 107.8-m (353.7-ft) long vessel is designed for maintenance of offshore wind farms and for wind turbine installations. It provides a 500-t capacity, a high-outreach offshore crane and an accommodation block for up to 56 people.

With its partners, OWS Off-Shore Wind Solutions and Wind Multiplikator, Harren & Partner will deploy Thor for component exchange services at the Nordsee One wind farm. Thor will also support other wind farms developments later in the year.

The company now has a four-strong four offshore construction fleet, comprising the DP2 heavy-lift vessel Mexican Giant, the DP3 heavy lift twin-gantry catamaran VB-10,000 (US flag, Jones Act compliant), and the jackups, Wind Lift I (DP1) and Thor.
