SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – GreenIT, a joint venture between Plenitude and CDP Equity, has signed an agreement with CI IV, a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, to develop two floating offshore wind farms in Sicily and Sardinia.

Both will be situated more than 35 km from the coast with a total capacity of around 750MW.

The Sicily project, off the coast of Marsala, comprises 21 12-MW turbines and a total capacity of around 250MW.

The other wind farm, off Sardinia’s south-western coast, will feature 42 12-MW wind turbines with a total capacity of more than 500MW.

Lilybeo Wind Power will support development of the Sicily wind farm while Nice Technology and 7 Seas Wind will support the Sardinia project.

The projects will employ floating platforms with solutions designed to minimize the environmental and visual impact.

Operations should start in 2026 in Sicily and 2028 in Sardinia following the end of the authorization process and construction.
