DELFT, the Netherlands – Ampelmann has sold its first W-type gangway system to Olympic Offshore Wind, for use on the Olympic Orion vessel in early 2023.

The ship is currently undergoing conversion from a multipurpose support vessel to a commissioning service operation vessel for the renewable energy industry.

The new W-type is electric, height-adjustable and contains a lift and crane to carry cargo and personnel. It is designed to compensate for vessel motions in sea states up to 3.5Hs.

In the meantime, an E1000 walk to work system has been temporarily fitted to allow the vessel to continue operations in the North Sea.
