DARMSTADT, Germany – Menck will supply a hydraulic hammer spread to Van Oord for installation of Italy’s first offshore wind farm.

Installation of 10 monopiles, each supporting a 3-MW turbine, will start at the Taranto project this summer from the MPI Resolution and should take 16 days to complete.

Menck will supply one MHU 800S hydraulic hammer spread, including service technicians.

The 30-MW Taranto project, also the first offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean Sea, is managed by Italian company Renexia.

Previously the company worked with Van Oord on the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm, where the companies collaborated to install 72 monopiles in the Danish sector of the Baltic Sea.
