Beacon begins production at Zephyrus Field in deepwater Gulf of Mexico

Beacon Offshore Energy has brought its deepwater Zephyrus Field online, marking first production from the Miocene development ahead of the second well coming online later this quarter.

Beacon Offshore Energy has initiated oil and gas production from the Zephyrus Field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, marking first output from the development’s initial well in late December 2025.

The Miocene‑aged project lies in Mississippi Canyon Block 759, about 130 miles southeast of New Orleans in water depths of 3,100-3,600 ft.

Drilled in 2023, the Zephyrus #1 discovery well encountered high‑quality oil in the Middle Miocene Cris “I” M2 sand. Beacon and its partners collaborated with Shell Offshore to tie the field back to Shell’s existing West Boreas subsea network for processing on the Olympus platform in the Mars Corridor. The subsea connection, which is enabled by a high-integrity pressure protection system across the 9‑mile tieback, reduced development costs, emissions and time to first oil, Beacon reported.

A second well, Zephyrus #2, recently reached a total measured depth of 26,270 ft and logged 116 ft of net pay across the M2 interval and two additional Miocene targets (M0 and UM1). Completion activities are underway, with first production expected by the end of first-quarter 2026.

The Zephyrus development includes partners Houston Energy, HEQ II, Red Willow Offshore, Westlawn Americas Offshore, and Murphy Exploration & Production.
