NEW ORLEANS – The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has awarded 63 leases on tracts receiving bids and rejected eight high bids from the region-wide Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 254, held on March 18, 2020.
Twenty-two companies participated in the sale, and a total of $93 million in high bids were offered.
The 63 awarded leases on tracts cover more than 351,205 acres. The accepted high bids are valued at $86,240,453.
The eight rejected high bids totaled $6,843,000. The rejected bids will be available in future sales.
The highest bid accepted was $11.1 million from BHP Billiton Petroleum (Deepwater) Inc. for Green Canyon block 80.
