MOSCOW – PAO Novatek subsidiary Arctic LNG 1 has secured a 30-year exploration and production license for the North-Gydanskiy subsoil license area in northern Russia.
The concession is in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region on the Gydan peninsula and extends partly into the shallow waters of Gydan Bay in the Kara Sea.
Estimated hydrocarbon resources are 9.8 Bboe, according to the Russian resource classification system.
The license area is adjacent to NOVATEK’s existing assets on the peninsula, and offers potential for implementing new LNG projects.
