Q10-A enters decommissioning phase

Kistos Holdings plans to cease production from the Q10-A Field in the Dutch North Sea by the end of next year, according to the company’s latest interim report.

Q10-A has been one of Kistos' core Dutch North Sea producing assets since the company's acquisition of interests in the region.

Production in the first half of this year has been averaging 1,200 boe/d net to the company, with high uptime on TAQA’s host P15-D platform (the two are connected via a 42-km subsea export pipeline).

The planned cessation reflects the maturity of the Dutch North Sea asset as operators across the basin prepare for increasing decommissioning activity.

Kistos has contracted a rig for well plug-and-abandonment (P&A) work and a heavy-lift vessel to remove the Q10-A platform jacket, with offshore decommissioning activities scheduled to begin in 2028.

Balder growth projects advance

In the Norwegian North Sea, the company is a partner to Var Energi in the Balder area.

The Balder area redevelopment is one of the Norwegian North Sea's largest ongoing brownfield investment programs, centered on the upgraded Jotun FPSO.

Drilling of the Balder Phase VI trilateral well has started, while first oil from Balder Phase VI is expected in December.

In June, the partners sanctioned the Balder Next New Wells project, which will connect seven new wells in the southern Balder Field to the Jotun FPSO.

First production from the Balder Next New Wells project is expected by the end of 2027.
