Aker BP expands Norway growth pipeline with Losgann and Slagugle operatorship deals

Aker BP has agreed to acquire operatorship of the Losgann/Froskelår and Slagugle discoveries, positioning the company to pursue tieback-led developments leveraging existing infrastructure in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea.

Why this news matters:

  • Infrastructure-led development potential: By taking operatorship of the Losgann/Froskelår and Slagugle discoveries, Aker BP can evaluate development concepts that leverage existing hubs, such as Alvheim and Skarv, potentially reducing costs and accelerating time to first production.

  • Adds to Norway's pipeline of future projects: The deals give Aker BP control of discoveries with further resource upside, including the about 50-MMbbl Slagugle accumulation, supporting continued investment and production opportunities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The Deepsea Yantai semisub has finished drilling a second appraisal well for ConocoPhillips Skandinavia on the 2020 Salgugle oil discovery in the Norwegian Sea.

The partnership has been working on a concept for a subsea development, and the agreement includes plans for additional exploration to increase the resource base ahead of sanctioning a potential project.

Slagugle is 20 km north of the Equinor-operated Heidrun Field and about 270 km north of Kristiansund, and it is also close to Aker BP’s Skarv Field center.

“ConocoPhillips and its partners have done solid work maturing the area [Slagugle], and by assuming operatorship we can align activity with existing infrastructure and work to establish a competitive basis for a possible development around one of our established hubs,” said CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik.
