ABERDEEN, UK — Shell and Exxon Mobil are reportedly close to agreeing on a sale of the Clipper and Leman Alpha gas field clusters in the UK southern North Sea for about $500 million to Viaro Energy.

If confirmed, it would represent Exxon Mobil’s departure from E&P in the UK North Sea region.

Viaro already owns interests in multiple producing fields in the southern gas basin, both in UK and Dutch waters.
