Enersea has designed a support frame for a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the North Sea, which would provide the connection between an existing platform jacket and a new CCS topside.

SCHIEDAM — Enersea has designed a support frame for a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the North Sea, which would provide the connection between an existing platform jacket and a new CCS topside.

The project would transport captured CO₂ from onshore emitters through subsea pipelines to depleted offshore platforms where it would be injected for subsurface storage.

Initially the redundant topside would be removed, with the support frame then fitted on the jacket. Finally, the CCS injection module would be placed on the support frame.
