OSLO, Norway  Equinor has found more oil in the Fram area in the Norwegian North Sea.

The semisub Deepsea Stavanger drilled well 35/11-26 S and sidetrack 35/11-26 A on the Crino/Mulder prospect in 356 m of water in PL090, 4 km west of the Fram Field and 130 km northwest of Bergen.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the first well encountered a 7-m gas column and a 26-m oil column in the Heather Formation. The second well found oil and gas in shallower intra-Heather sandstones.

Early analysis suggests 9 MMboe to 35 MMboe recoverable; it appears to be commercial, said partner Neptune Energy, adding that the licensees will consider a tie-in to other discoveries in the area via existing offshore infrastructure.

The eight previous discoveries in the area are Echino South, Swisher, Røver North, Blasto, Toppand, Kveikje, Røver South and Heisenberg. These were the 21st and 22nd exploration wells drilled on PL090 since it was awarded in 1984.

Deepsea Stavanger will next drill the exploration well 30/11-15 for Equinor in PL035 in the North Sea.
