OGA investigating possible UK offshore license breach

LONDON – Britain’s Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has opened an investigation into a potential breach of offshore production consents, which it says are contrary to the license requirements.
It follows an inquiry that concluded there was sufficient evidence to merit a full investigation.
The aims are to compile and assess more information to allow the OGA to reach a decision; offer the company concerned the opportunity to supply written representations; and to determine how the case should be resolved.
In October 2020 the Authority published its Thematic Review into Industry Compliance with Regulatory Obligations. This examined compliance in six areas of interaction between the OGA and licensees, identifying good practice but also a need for further improvement.
