STAVANGER, Norway – Industrial action could impact operations at the Mongstad terminal in western Norway.

The facility receives oil production from various fields in the Norwegian North Sea.

According to Equinor, mediation was due to take place today between representatives of the union SAFE and the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association, in order to forestall action.

Under discussion is the oil agreement – Oljeoverenskomsten 224 – between YS/Safe, Negotia and Norwegian Oil and Gas Association/Norsk Industri.

In the event of an impasse, SAFE said that 12 of its members at the Mongstad terminal could be on strike from midnight tonight, Feb. 15.

This could limit crude storage and harbor capacity at the terminal at the Equinor Mongstad refinery, in turn impacting production at the Johan Sverdrup and Troll fields, possibly halting production altogether.

A possible strike could also impact gas exports from the Troll area, along with the Kvitebjørn, Visund, Byrding, Fram and Valemon fields, Equinor added.
