Iranian teams overhaul offshore rig, 35 South Pars platforms
Iran is strengthening its offshore oil and gas capabilities through the Alvand rig's finalization and comprehensive platform maintenance at South Pars Field.
POGC has completed 16 gas platform overhauls in the offshore South Pars Field.
Iranian Offshore Oil Co. is close to completing the Alvand offshore drilling rig, with support from contractors in Iran’s Kish region.
This is a repair rig used to overhaul and secure wells in the Siri operational area of the Persian Gulf, according to news service Shana. From 2018 to 2021, it worked on 10 to 12 wells annually, increasing the area’s production by on average 5,000 bbl/d.

Shana also reported that programs have been completed on 16 platforms, while another is in progress. The remainder should be finished by the end of October.
POGC is responsible for supplying more than 70% of Iran’s gas needs and more than 40% of its gasoline.
Deputy of operations and support Sepahdar Abbaszadeh said that, so far, 6,150 work orders have been completed over a total of 54,759 man hours.
Tasks have included replacing 32-inch bends, repairing and replacing 15-ton valves, inspection and repairs of high-pressure tanks, testing of platform control systems, servicing flare ignition and lighting systems, and calibrating pressure safety valves.
During the campaign, gas production has continued at maximum capacity by restricting maintenance to two to four platforms under maintenance at any one time while the remainder operate at full capacity.
