Petrobras has initiated the opportunity disclosure stage for the sale of its 100% stake in the Catuá field in the Campos basin.

RIO DE JANEIROPetrobras has initiated the opportunity disclosure stage for the sale of its 100% stake in the Catuá field in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.

The field, discovered in 2003 in the BC-60 block, 128 km (79.5 mi) offshore Espírito Santo state, is in waters 1,700-1,950 m (5,577-6,398 ft) deep, and was declared commercial in 2006.

Other fields in the concession contract originally awarded for the block are not at present for sale.

Four vertical wells drilled on Catuá encountered light oil in Albian carbonatic reservoirs in the Quissamã formation salt dome flank, with estimated in-place reserves of 993.82 MMboe.
