SINGAPORE  Jadestone Energy has gained approval from Australia’s National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) concerning its acquisition of a 16.67% interest from bp in the CWLH fields offshore Western Australia, first announced last July.

The Cossack, Wanaea, Lambert and Hermes (CWLH) fields comprise the North West Shelf oil project, in four licenses in the Carnarvon Basin, 140 km offshore northwest Australia in water depths of 75 m to 135 m.

Production averaged 14,196 bbl/d for the quarter ending in September 2022, or 2,366 bbl/d of oil net, to Jadestone’s acquired interest.

The fields produce oil through 13 subsea wells connected to the 60,000-bbl/d Okha FPSO. Jadestone estimates their remaining 2P reserves at 30.3 MMbbl.

They also produce associated gas; the partners in the North West Shelf oil project have the rights to the gas required to fuel the Okha, with the remainder sent to the North West Shelf LNG project.

Jadestone sees opportunities for further investment to increase the fields’ recovery factors.
