LONDON – Ophir Energy will work with Repsol and Petronas in two new blocks offshore Mexico, following awards under the country’s bid round 2.4.
Blocks 10 and 12 are both in the Ridges basin, said to feature a proven hydrocarbon system with material prospectivity.
Repsol will operate block 10, which spans 2,000 sq km (772 sq mi) in water depths of 500-1,200 m (1,640-3,937 ft).
Petronas will take the lead for block 12, which extends over 3,000 sq km (1,158 sq mi) in water depths of 1,500-2,000 m (4,921-6,562 ft).
The partners have identified multiple leads and prospects from existing data.
