BIV to analyze gas potential of two Persian Gulf fields
National Iranian Oil Co. and Malaysia’s Bukhary International Ventures have signed a memorandum of understanding to perform studies of two fields in the Persian Gulf.
BIV will submit the results to NIOC within seven months.
The Golshan gas field is one of NIOC’s most recent discoveries, situated 65 km (40 mi) offshore and around 180 km (112 mi) southeast of Bushehr. Estimated in-place volumes are 42-56 tcf.

Both fields also contain oil, but BIV will study recovery of the gas and its transfer to onshore facilities, according to Gholamreza Manouchehri, NIOC’s deputy of development and engineering.
