CALGARY, Alberta -- Husky Oil Operations Ltd. and Esso Exploration Greenland Ltd. have received joint interest in an exploration license from the West Disko 2006 Licensing Round. Awards were made by the Greenland Home Rule government and the Danish government.

Husky and Esso each have a 43.75% interest in West Disko block 6 (2007/27), which covers an area of 13,213 sq km (5,102 sq mi) approximately 30 km (19 mi) offshore the west coast of Disko Island. Nunaoil A/S, Greenland's national oil company, holds the remaining 12.5% interest. Esso will operate the block, Husky says.

In June 2007, Husky was awarded two exploration licenses covering a 21,067-sq-km (8,134-sq-mi) area that borders license 2007/27. Husky operates blocks 2007/22 and 2007/24 with 87.5% interest. Nunaoil A/S holds the remaining 12.5% interest in each license.
