NEW DELHI, India -- India has deferred the seventh round of auctions for its oil and gas blocks to December from November, a senior oil ministry official said Thursday.

"Because the Parliament session has been advanced to mid-November, we have decided to launch it (the auctions) in December," M.S. Srinivasan told reporters.

Roadshows for the auctions for the new exploration licenses will be held in January and February, he said.
