Gulf operators evacuating ahead of Hurricane Dean

NEW ORLEANS -- Gulf of Mexico operators have started evacuating platforms and rigs in the projected path of Hurricane Dean. According to the MMS, as of Friday afternoon, personnel have been evacuated from two production platforms and one rig.
Approximately 0.17% of Gulf oil production and 0.1% of its gas has been shut-in, according to the evacuation report. The MMS says it will update the evacuation and shut-in statistics at 1:00 p.m. CST each day until these statistics are no longer significant.
