HOUSTON -- Houston Technology Center (HTC) has launched its new HTC-Americas initiative to position Houston as the gateway to the US for Mexican and Latin American technology companies.

The new program offers foreign companies access to HTC's acceleration program, including business guidance, entrepreneurial education, and the HTC community of technology and business leaders, service providers, and investors. HTC also will offer companies office space in its midtown facility.

The organization's objective is for Houston to be the US market access point of choice for technology companies across Mexico and Latin America. As part of its effort to make Houston a leading global center of technology innovation and commercialization, HTC-Americas will help companies on both sides improve and expand their businesses and network of contacts, HTC says.

Walter Ulrich, HTC president and CEO, says the focus will be on five key sectors: energy, information technology, life sciences, nanotechnology, and NASA/aerospace technology.

Members of the HTC-Americas committee held official visits to Mexico City. Several Mexican companies already are working with the program and are utilizing the services offered by HTC, including its acceleration program and office space in its facility, the organization says.
