Bahrain releases four offshore blocks

Bahrain says it will release four offshore exploration blocks covering the entire 7,400 sq km (2,857 sq mi) area of the island.

Manama, Bahrain-- Bahrain says it will release four offshore exploration blocks covering the entire 7,400 sq km (2,857 sq mi) area of the island.

Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs and Chairman of the National Oil & Gas Authority Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza says the four blocks attracted interest from 18 unnamed companies.

Bidding for the offshore round closes Sept. 17 with awards scheduled for Oct. 31.
