STAVANGER, Norway -- Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has announced the APA 2010 licensing round, which consists of predefined areas with blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea.

The application deadline is Sept. 15. Awards will be made at the end of 2010/beginning of 2011. The predefined areas are larger than those in APA 2009, the NPD says. The new areas are in the Norwegian Sea and in the Barents Sea.

In APA 2010, applications can be made for all blocks or parts of blocks in predefined areas not already included in a license at the deadline date. This means that acreage that is relinquished in the application period is regarded as announced at the time of relinquishment.
