Sandnessjøen selected as Marulk support center

Eni Norge has chosen the Helgelandsbase in Sandnessjøen as the onshore base to support drilling and completion operations on the Marulk development in the Norwegian Sea (license PL 122).

SANDNES, Norway -- Eni Norge has chosen the Helgelandsbase in Sandnessjøen as the onshore base to support drilling and completion operations on the Marulk development in the Norwegian Sea (license PL 122).

Marulk is being developed as a tie-back to the Statoil-operated Norne FPSO. The Marulk gas-condensate field, 30 km southwest of Norne, will produce from two wells. Recoverable reserves are estimated at 73 MMboe. Production is scheduled to start in spring 2012.

Helgelandsbase, which has recently been upgraded, will provide the following services to Marulk:
• Storage area for casing and production tubing
• Storage area for drilling fluid chemicals
• Crane services
• Casing and tubing handling services
• Quay facilities
• Bunkering services
• Bulk facilities.

Saipem’s semisubmersibleScarabeo 5 will perform drilling and completion activities from 3Q 2011 through 1Q 2012.
