Jindal says Mariner well now shut in

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said production has been shut off to Mariner Energy's Gulf of Mexico platform that caught fire this morning, according to reports from the state capitol.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said production has been shut off to the Mariner Energy Gulf of Mexico platform that caught fire this morning, according to reports from the state capitol.

Jindal also is reported to have said Mariner believes the fire fuel was flammable materials stored on the platform. Further, that material is nearly extinguished at this time.

These details remain to be confirmed by officials at the scene.
