LONDON -- Fairfield Energy has been awarded provisionally a license for UK blocks 48/11c and 48/12b under the UK’s 26th licensing round.

Both are in the southern North Sea, close to the company’s current Clipper South gas development. Fairfield’s subsidiary Fairfield Cedrus will operate the licence in partnership with Bayerngas UK.

The blocks contain the Glein gas discovery. The partners’ work commitments include 3D seismic reprocessing across the blocks and drilling of a contingent well if the reprocessing confirms commercial gas volumes.

Fairfield has applied for other blocks in the 26th Round which are undergoing a Special Environmental Assessment, and therefore are yet to be awarded.
