NEW ORLEANS -- The US Minerals Management Service says 67 companies sent 642 bids on 468 tracts for Central Gulf Sale 213. Final results of the bidding are expected later today after the offers are opened and analyzed for "fair market value."
The tracts, off Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, include 295 blocks in water depths more than 1.300 ft (396 m).
“The industry’s interest in (this) Central Gulf oil and gas lease sale demonstrates
the importance of the deepwater Gulf to future energy development” said MMS Gulf of
Mexico Regional Director Lars Herbst.
