(Hanoi) Premier Oil and Santos are to move ahead with drilling the Dua and Blackbird prospects offshore Vietnam. The agreement will lead to Premier ceding half its interests in the Block 12E and 12W production sharing contracts to Santos; Delek Energy holds the rest of each license.
Since becoming operator of the blocks in September 2004, Premier has acquired 2D and 3D seismic over the acreage, with interpretation revealing Dua and Blackbird as potentially high-impact structures. The Dua-4X well will explore a structure that flowed 1,500 b/d of oil when drilled in 1974. The 12E-CS-IX Blackbird well will probe a tilted fault block updip of a 2001 well which encountered good oil shows. Both will be drilled by the Diamond Offshore semisubOcean General.
