ABERDEEN, UK – The Oil & Gas Academy says it plans to call on young people to explore the range of careers available in the oil and gas industry on Friday at Offshore Europe by staging an interactive careers and lifestyle event.

“Energise Your Future at OE ’09” is one of several initiatives from the Academy to help meet industry demand for a safe, skilled, effective workforce.

“The industry is taking great strides in opening up avenues of communication with young people with the aim of demystifying oil and gas and redressing many of the common misconceptions about the sector,” says David Doig, Academy CEO. “This year’s final day of Offshore Europe marks a significant step for the industry in terms of engaging not only with the wider community but with the rising talent of the next generation who may well be the oil and gas decision makers of tomorrow.”

Among the events surrounding the program are scheduled presentations from OE chair Thomas Thune Andersen, Shell geologist Caroline Gill, BP technician John-Robert Eunson, and Senergy CEO James McCallum.
