NEW ORLEANS -- According to offshore operator reports to the Minerals Management Service today, personnel have been evacuated from 158 production platforms, equivalent to 22.8% of the manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Ten rigs have also been evacuated, equivalent to 15.2% of the rigs currently operating in the area.
MMS estimates that approximately 43.09% of oil production and approximately 27.96% of natural gas production in the Gulf has been shut-in.
