STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania -- Two storms are being tracked in the Gulf of Mexico and are likely to affect oil and gas operations starting tomorrow and lasting until Monday, according to AccuWeather.com.

One storm is developing in the southern GoM and is expected to cause high winds and seas along the Texas and Louisiana coasts. Tropical Storm Ida is expected to enter the GoM by Monday.

“Seas 15 to 20 ft (4.5 to 6 m) and a 200-mi (322-km) wide area of strong gale-force winds 40 to 50 mph will mean a likely disruption of normal oil production operations in the northwest Gulf this weekend,” says Joe Bastardi, senior meteorologist and tropical long-rang forecaster.
