VIENNA, Austria – OMV (UK) has agreed to three UK offshore license transactions.
An unnamed buyer has agreed to take the company’s stake in various licenses around the Apache-operatedBeryl field and its satellites. The deal should close this fall. OMV had held these interests since 1990. At the time they represented its first offshore producing venture anywhere.
The company will also divest a 13.62% stake in nearby licenses P.090A and P.631, including 1.55% equity in the unitized producing Boa field, to Bridge Energy.
West of Shetland, OMV has executed a swap agreement with Statoil (UK) giving it 17.5% equity in the Total-operated west of Shetlands license P.967, including the Tobermory and Bunnehaven discoveries.
In exchange, Statoil takes OMV’s 30% equity in license P.726 in the northern North Sea, including the Mariner East discovery to the west of Beryl. OMV operates adjoining licenses P.1488 and P.1854.
Jaap Huijskes, responsible for exploration and production, said: “These are the first steps in line with our strategy to concentrate our resources in the UK on the important west of Shetlands area.
“OMV has production in this area from theSchiehallion field, where the redevelopment project is under way and targeting first production in 2016. In addition we are continuing to move our important discoveries – Rosebank, Cambo, and Tornado – towards development decisions.”
