LONDON – Hansa Hydrocarbons has completed the acquisition of a 19% interest from First Oil Expro in license P1745 in the UK southern North Sea.

This covers blocks 47/14c and 47/15c, and is directly south of the GDF Suez-operated Juliet gas field in block 47/14b.

In October, Hansa also acquired 19% of 47/14b from First Oil. Juliet’s development scheme is based on two subsea horizontal wells tied back to the BP-operated Amethyst A2D platform, 9 km (5.6 mi) to the north.

Both blocks are 40 km due east of the Humber estuary in 50 m of water. As with other gas fields in the area, the exploration targets are in the prolific Rotliegend Leman sandstone.
