STAVANGER, Norway -- StatoilHydro was offered interests in 12 production licenses in the Awards of Predefined Areas 2007 (APA 2007) on the Norwegian continental shelf. The company will be the operator of nine of the licenses.

The offer submitted to the oil companies includes 52 production licenses in areas already opened for petroleum activities, where fishery-related and environmental concerns have been addressed.

Twenty-four of the production licenses are awarded in the North Sea, 21 in the Norwegian Sea, and seven in the Barents Sea. StatoilHydro has been awarded interests in four production licenses in each of these three ocean areas. Two of the licenses in the Barents Sea are close to the Snøhvit field northwest of Hammerfest.
