NEW ORLEANS -- The MMS has provided final statistics on platform and rig evacuations in the path of Tropical Storm Dolly.
Personnel have been evacuated from 43 production platforms, equivalent to 6.0 % of the 717 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Personnel from four rigs have also been evacuated; this is equivalent to 3.25% of the 123 rigs currently operating in the region.
From the operators' reports, it is estimated that approximately 1.39% of the oil production in the Gulf has been shut-in. Estimated oil production from the GoM as of January 2008 was 1.3 MMb/d. It is also estimated that approximately 5.45% of the natural gas production in the Gulf has been shut-in. Estimated natural gas production from the region as of January 2008 was 7.7 bcf/d of gas.
The MMS Continuity of Operations Plan team is now concluding its activities related to Hurricane Dolly.
