STAVANGER, Norway –The opening ceremony at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) conference and exhibition today will be presented on the Internet for two hours starting at 2 p.m. Stavanger time. It can be seen at www.ons.no.

The opening ceremony will feature Terje Riis-Johansen, the newly appointed minister of petroleum and energy for Norway. Following that, Jen Stoltenberg, Norway's premier, will discuss his view of the ONS theme "Energy for One World."

"Broadcasting live via the web means that more people can experience it," said Jon Are Rørtveit, ONS marketing and information vice president. "This represents a specific measure to make ONS more widely accessible. At the same time, we're creating a record to make ONS more durable."

For continuing, up-to-date ONS coverage, Offshore Magazine, the official publication of ONS, is publishing daily electronic newsletters from the show in addition to regular website update items.
