HONG KONG – CNOOC Ltd. says the oil spills at PengLai 19-3 in Bohai Bay is under control. ConocoPhillips China Inc. had reported seepage from the seabed early in June, and a well drilling on Platform C had an influx resulting in a second spill.

The most recent report says that “through those measures taken by the Operator such as reducing pressure in Platform B and implementing a cementing procedure in Platform C, the above incidents were well controlled on June 19 and 21 respectively. As of July 4, there is no obvious oil slick on the sea surface. Only very small amount of oil sheen can be observed occasionally near Platform B and C.”
