Eni group wins East Kalimantan block bidding

A consortium of Eni, Nike Resources Ltd., Black Platinum Energy Ltd., Statoil, and GDF SUEZ has won the North Ganal block offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, in the 1st Indonesian International Bid Rounds 2011.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – A consortium of Eni, Nike Resources Ltd., Black Platinum Energy Ltd., Statoil, and GDF SUEZ has won the North Ganal block offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, in the 1st Indonesian International Bid Rounds 2011.

Eni says it will be the operator and expects to sign the production sharing contract (PSC) by year end. North Banal covers 2,432 sq km (939 sq mi) of the Kutei basin.

The PSC is expected to require drilling of one well and 200 km of 2D seismic during its first three years.

Eni has presented a Plan of Development for Jangkrik field to the Indonesian authorities, which is expected to go onstream starting 2015. Eni recently reported another discovery at Jangkrik NE, in the offshore Kutei (Muara Bakau PSC), the North Ganal block.
