WilPhoenix booked for North Sea well abandonments

Awilco Drilling has signed a letter of intent to provide its semisub WilPhoenix for work related to Hess’ 2012 well abandonment program on the Fife and Fergus fields in the UK North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UK – Awilco Drilling has signed a letter of intent to provide its semisub WilPhoenix for work related to Hess’ 2012 well abandonment program on the Fife and Fergus fields in the UK North Sea.

The contract duration is estimated at around 200 days with a contract value close to $51 million. Work should start in late 1Q 2012.

WilPhoenix is an Enhanced Pacesetter semi equipped to drill in water depths up to 1,200 ft (366 m).

Sister rig Wilhunter should start development drilling next spring on the Rochelle project in the UK North Sea.

Awilco has signed another LOI with the Rochelle operator Endeavour Energy UK valued at around $37 million. The program should last around 150 days.
