Eni, Shell buy into big potential offshore Nigeria

Royal Dutch Shell and Eni have purchased rights to an offshore oil field near the coast of Nigeria that could hold 9 Bbbl of oil, the companies estimate.

LAGOS, Nigeria – Royal Dutch Shell and Eni have purchased rights to an offshore oil field near the coast of Nigeria that could hold 9 Bbbl of oil, the companies estimate.

The acreage, near Total’s Akpo field, had been in dispute between Shell and Malabu Oil and Gas.

According to reports, Shell and Eni will divide production 50/50 with Eni running the deepwater drilling and production operations.
